It's Dark Outside

1.
The world is a painting, made for you to see and the brightest colours are saved for you and me and the sun shines bright in the acrylic sky So carefully designed to captivate your eyes As you take a closer look you start to see the flaws The edges start to blur as though the painter got bored The colours start to run and the perspective doesn't match And the canvas wasn't treated so it's now begun to crack The message is confusing, think my mind is gonna snap Staring at a thousand faces and they all are looking back Maybe the intention's a reflection of ourselves But this gallery of wonder's seeming more and more like hell Tired of pristine images of everybody else, Attention takes a turn toward the portrait of myself The lack of any blemishes is obvious to see What it masks and what is hidden is a mystery to me

Let's Burn 03:29
Sunlight shines into my eyes Sunlight shines way too bright All of my scattered lies don't look as fine as they did at night Turn it up and burn it out There's not enough, we're running out Precious time sliding by Tension climes, pressure's high All your lies seem so clear There's nothing left, nothing to fear Turn it up and burn it out There's not enough, we're running out Patience dies, we're left behind And I won't try not to lose my mind Everything you ever said doesn't sound the same when it's in my head Turn it up and burn it out There's not enough, we're running out All our joy, and there ain't much Is tainted by your poison touch And our reserves are running low I don't want to, but I've got to go Turn it on and churn 'em out We're all that's left and running out

Lost in the silence of sleep you are listening, as sound starts to form you forget you're not awake Falling apart at the seams, you are dreaming of sunshine and laughter that never came your way Adrift in an ocean of voices, they're screaming and crying and pleading for you to stay at rest Outside your world someone's talking of leaving, reminding you that here you're nothing but a guest Seems like forever ago you slipped into this state of confusion, can you remember when? To pinpoint the moment you know you must leave but this place of delusion will draw you in again Under the beautiful sky you resign to the hopelessness and then you sink into the haze As the last of your memories die you feel comfort and warmth as you lie here, forever in this place Everything is all well and good, and I hope you're happy, because you must realise, there is nowhere to go from here. Only down.

I Don't Know 02:32
Ask me why, I don't know Ask me how, I don't know Tell me where, I won't show, 'cause all the words that you don't say tell me to go Is this real, I don't know Can I feel, I don't know Does it sting, maybe so, but the pain just makes the world go slow Stepped into the great beyond Been drifting now for so long Singing my eternal song It goes 'emptiness will make you strong' Nothing is as nothing does There's no below, there's no above Spread my winds like a fucking dove Unseen by a world that's had enough Now my eyes are open wide I'm breaking up with the outside The only thing that's worth the ride are the many different ways to hide Will this work, I don't know Can it hurt, I don't know Did I desert, I guess so, but the fight ain't mine and this I know
5.
No Reason 02:02
You're the reason I'm the reason We're the reason Is there reason for all these things that I'm feeling? You're the reason You're my reason You're the reason I believe in all the ways that you're deceiving I'm the reason for the reason There's a reason why I'm screaming All these wounds are never healing
6.
Insomniac 04:36
No escape, no release Endless hours, there is no peace It's out of my sight, going out of my mind Searching for what I'll never find
7.
Running to the light to see if you want to go, hidden in the darkness, searching for a sound Hesitation makes us bleed when you want to know, searching for the words that just can't be found
8.
I had some words to give to you, but gave them to an empty room Hope is sharp enough to cut, satisfaction's not enough I saw the truth and called its bluff, or tried but I'd run out of luck And the feelings are inviting me to drown Like the calling of the siren sound All that I now want to see is all that was and cannot be That was then and this is now, but old mistakes are coming round The silence where I used to hide now suffocates the life inside And there is not an answer to be found And the only way out for me is down

about

It's dark outside. Something out there is banging forlornly in the wind. Where's the sun? It's been gone an awfully long time. The electric heater shines hopefully but ineffectively with it's last functional bulb; the cold pervades everywhere. The faded paint on the walls has long since begun to crack and flake, exposing the crumbling bricks underneath. Not long now before the entire building falls, I reckon. Even the spiders have abandoned their cobwebs, leaving me to haunt this place by myself. Oh well.
