lyrics

Many years from now humanity stands on the verge of rebirth. The foundations of a golorious new age are finally, painstakingly laid to lift us, one by one, from the darkness. The world celebrates the dawn of a bold future.
Yet somewhere, alone and unseen between the cracks, our doom gestates!

Isolation breeds aberation
Something's growing, feeding in the darkness; a sinister presence that nobody can see
And when the creature births we find out that it is worse that we could have ever dreamed, and it's probably worse still than it seems
As we scramble to escape, those I once knew now mutate! They warp and twist before my eyes into the monster I despise
Now I see the whole world has turned! They can't be saved; they must be burned alive

And so I walk the righteous path alone amidst the decaying ruins of my home
Searching for what humanity is left; and all that I find corrupt I put to death
And when the sun goes down I hear their screams, they multiply intent on finding me
Their twisted voices call to me every night, and I weep for the loss of all that was pure and right
But I hold what they used to be close to my heart, as I perfect their destruction into an art

Annihilation; my dark fixation
I've been adapting, living in the darkness; hunting the enemies of humankind.
But when the night rolls back the horror strikes; my jaw goes slack.
For the world has been transformed; it is a place for me no more. This wretched new society; a perverse twisted parody from which I'm forced to hide away- they hunt for me now in the day!
This nightmare will never end, I lie unseen, plotting my revenge!

And as the first signs of winter arrive I have to feed on vermin to survive

I think of the world I lost whenever I can; but it's getting hard to remember who I am...
